District 1 Commissioner Wilson Robertson to Hold Neighborhood Meeting
Escambia County Commissioner Wilson Robertson, District 1, will hold a neighborhood meeting on Wednesday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., at 5176 Choctaw Avenue. Commissioner Robertson will discuss issues in the Perdido Bay Country Club neighborhood with a focus on the Choctaw Drainage Project.
The Choctaw Drainage Project construction is scheduled to begin in June at an estimated construction cost of $247,000.

Where: The Five Sisters Blues Café, 421 West Belmont St., Pensacola - corner of Devillers and Belmont.
This month's event will feature the Greg Lyon Jazz Combo, featuring guitarist Greg Lyon. A graduating senior with a degree in Guitar Performance from the University of West Florida, Greg attended Pensacola State College as well, and performs throughout the area in various groups and as a soloist. Originally from Fairfax, Virginia, Greg moved to the Pensacola area seven years ago. Joining Greg will be Jonathan Rodriguez (sax) and Chad Pippin (drums), both of whom were members of the University of West Florida Jazz Combo along with Lyon. Veteran bassist Tom Latenser will complete the group line-up.

Pensacola Little Theatre’s Acorn Productions will present The Jungle Book this July. Based on Rudyard Kipling’s book, The Jungle Book is a timeless tale of courage and friendship.
Auditions are May 14 and 15 at 6:30 p.m. The director is looking for a flexible cast of around 20 boys and girls. Auditions are cold-reads so you do not need to prepare a monologue or memorize anything in advance.

Operation Clean Sweep from 8:00-2:00 From Perdido Bay Methodist Church on Innerarity Point to the Public Library on Gulf Beach Hwy
The focus of “Operation Clean Sweep” is to work with Neighborhood Watch groups, residents, churches and business owners to control and prevent the damaging effects of criminal activity through “Eradication, Enforcement and Education”. The Operation Task Force works closely with Escambia County Animal Control, Environmental Law Enforcement, the United States Military, Escambia County Roads and Bridges and Neighborhood Watch groups to clean up neighborhoods and educate citizens on preventive measures that could be implemented to minimize possible crimes.
